WestJet announced on July 20, 2026, that it will launch weekly nonstop service between Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport (YWG) and Philip Goldson International Airport in Belize City (BZE), beginning December 14, 2026.
The new Winnipeg-Belize City route is one of two new Winnipeg winter departures WestJet announced simultaneously, alongside a new Winnipeg-Punta Cana service launching November 28. Both routes give Manitoba-based travelers new direct options for winter sun travel without connecting through Calgary or Toronto.
WestJet says it will maintain its position as the leading Canadian airline serving Belize during the 2026-27 winter season, according to PAX News. The airline already connects Belize City to other Canadian gateways; the Winnipeg addition extends that network to Manitoba for the first time.
All five of WestJet's new winter routes were announced together on July 20 and will operate weekly. John Weatherill, WestJet's EVP and Chief Commercial Officer, cited "growing demand for options in Mexico and the Latin Caribbean" as the driver for the expansion, per Travelweek. The full winter schedule runs through April 2027.
