Oman's low-cost carrier SalamAir launched direct service between Muscat International Airport (MCT) and Damascus International Airport (DAM) on October 28, 2026, becoming the first Omani airline to operate the route. The service runs twice weekly.
The Damascus launch was held at a joint ceremony at Muscat International Airport alongside the simultaneous inauguration of a new Erbil service. TradeArabia reports SalamAir described the route as "strengthening connectivity between Oman and Syria, providing a convenient travel option for passengers travelling for tourism and business." The airline highlighted Damascus's "rich cultural heritage, historic landmarks and traditional markets" as key draws for travellers.
Aviation Week noted the October 28 launch in its weekly route update, describing SalamAir as the carrier kicking off the Damascus service three days after its Erbil inaugural. The Oman Observer confirmed the launch and SalamAir's status as the first Omani carrier on the route.
The pair of launches — Erbil on October 25 and Damascus on October 28 — forms part of SalamAir's broader Middle East network expansion from its Muscat hub.
