WestJet launched its first-ever nonstop service between Edmonton International Airport (YEG) and Reykjavík Keflavík International Airport (KEF) on 26 June 2026, with the return flight from Reykjavík to Edmonton beginning the following day. The seasonal service operates once weekly using Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft configured with 12 business class and 162 economy seats, per an official WestJet press release.
Keflavík Airport's Chief Commercial and Airport Development Officer Guðmundur Daði Rúnarsson said the new routes from Edmonton and Winnipeg "reflect WestJet's strong confidence in the Iceland market" and enhance connectivity between North America and Iceland. WestJet's Chief Commercial Officer John Weatherill noted the airline was reaffirming its commitment to international links for Alberta residents.
The Edmonton–Reykjavík corridor is one of two brand-new Iceland services WestJet is launching this summer, alongside a new Winnipeg–Keflavík route that began 27 June 2026. These join an existing Calgary–Keflavík service offered up to six times weekly, giving WestJet coverage from three Canadian cities to Iceland in summer 2026. According to Simple Flying, the Iceland routes are part of WestJet's largest-ever European network expansion, which also includes new services from Halifax to Lisbon, Madrid and Copenhagen and from Toronto to Cardiff and Glasgow. WestJet's own Iceland page confirms the YEG departure as part of the live summer 2026 schedule.
