Alaska Airlines will launch nonstop service between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and Kansai International Airport (KIX), which serves Osaka, on May 14, 2027. The route will operate four times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, year-round. Flights will be operated on Hawaiian Airlines Airbus A330-200 aircraft featuring lie-flat business class suites and complimentary Starlink Wi-Fi. The westbound departure leaves Seattle at 12:10 p.m. and arrives in Osaka at 4:00 p.m. the following day, per the Alaska Airlines press release.
No carrier currently operates nonstop service between Seattle and Osaka, according to Aviation Week. Hawaiian Airlines has served KIX from Honolulu since 2011, and that service will continue alongside the new Seattle link. The announcement is part of Alaska Air Group's "Alaska Accelerate" strategy to grow Seattle's long-haul international network to at least 15 destinations by 2030. Osaka serves as a gateway to Kyoto, Nara and Kobe in Japan's Kansai region.
The companion Seattle-Papeete (PPT) route also launches under the same program on June 11, 2027. Both routes remain subject to government approval, per the airline's announcement. Introductory round-trip fares from $1,199 to Osaka were available through October 26, 2026.
