WestJet announced on July 20, 2026, that it will launch weekly nonstop service between Regina International Airport (YQR) and Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico, beginning December 14, 2026.
The route provides Saskatchewan travelers a direct connection to the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula, home to the resort destinations of San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. Service will operate once weekly through the 2026-27 winter season, according to PAX News, which identified the airport code as SJD.
The announcement forms part of a simultaneous package of five new winter routes WestJet revealed on July 20, covering Merida (from Calgary), Punta Cana (from Winnipeg), Belize City (from Winnipeg), and Liberia, Costa Rica (from Ottawa). All five routes are weekly and run through April 2027.
"We are excited to offer more ways for guests to trade their snow boots for sandals in the destinations that matter most to them," said John Weatherill, WestJet's EVP and Chief Commercial Officer, per Travelweek. WestJet will maintain its position as Canada's largest carrier to Mexico by number of flights during the winter season.
