Delta Air Lines will launch twice-daily nonstop service between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Monterey Regional Airport (MRY) beginning December 19, 2026, operated by SkyWest Airlines under the Delta Connection brand using Embraer E175 aircraft, according to Delta's official press release issued September 18, 2026.
The route gives Los Angeles travellers direct access to California's Central Coast, including Carmel-by-the-Sea, the Monterey Peninsula, and Big Sur. Delta cited the 2027 US Open golf championship at Pebble Beach as one context for the December launch timing.
On the same date, Delta also launches separate daily nonstop service between Salt Lake City (SLC) and Monterey, giving Monterey Regional Airport two new Delta hub connections simultaneously, as confirmed by Business Travel News. AeroRoutes confirmed the route details from Delta's schedule filing.
The LAX service is part of a broader expansion announced on September 18. Delta plans more than 200 daily departures from LAX at its summer 2027 peak across nearly 70 destinations. Delta Vice President of Network Planning Amy Martin stated in the press release that the new Monterey routes "create more opportunities for customers to connect to the places they want to go."
