Brussels Airlines will launch scheduled passenger service between Brussels Airport (BRU) and Kittilä Airport (KTT) in Finnish Lapland on December 10, 2026. The route, announced on August 17, 2026, will operate three times weekly on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays through March 27, 2027, using Airbus A320 and A320neo aircraft, according to the airline's official press release and schedule data from AeroRoutes.
The new scheduled service marks a significant shift: Brussels Airlines has previously served Kittilä exclusively through charter flights operated in partnership with tour operators. By adding Kittilä to its regular timetable, the airline gives independent travelers the flexibility to book without a package deal, the carrier said.
Kittilä is one of the primary gateways to Finnish Lapland and is home to the Levi ski resort. The region attracts visitors for skiing, snowmobile tours, reindeer experiences, husky safaris and Northern Lights viewing during the winter months, according to AeroTime.
The Kittilä launch is part of a broader Brussels Airlines Arctic expansion announced simultaneously, which also includes new scheduled routes to Kemi in Finland and Evenes in Norway. Brussels Airlines is a member of the Lufthansa Group, which collectively operates up to 69 weekly winter flights from Central and Western Europe to destinations near the Arctic Circle. Sister carrier Discover Airlines is separately adding new routes from Frankfurt and Munich to Finnish Lapland this winter, per AeroTime. Tickets for all three new routes are now on sale.
