Air Canada's Massive Expansion: 7 New Long-Haul Routes Launching In June [Full List]
Air Canada launches Halifax–Brussels with a 737 MAX 8, setting a new distance record as Air Canada's longest-ever service from Nova Scotia at 2,670 nautical miles and giving the province its first direct Star Alliance hub link to Belgium.
Air Canada will begin operating three-weekly nonstop service between Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) and Brussels Airport (BRU) from June 18, 2026, using Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft through the peak summer season.
At 2,670 nautical miles (4,945 km), the Halifax–Brussels corridor becomes Air Canada's longest-ever scheduled service from Nova Scotia, breaking a distance record for the province's Air Canada operations, per Simple Flying's June routes feature. The route is also among Air Canada's longest-scheduled 737 MAX transatlantic operations and is part of the carrier's ongoing effort to demonstrate the MAX 8's range on ultra-long narrowbody routes.
Aviation Week's 50 New Routes June 2026 analysis lists the Halifax–Brussels service as part of Air Canada's summer 2026 transatlantic wave, which simultaneously includes Montreal–Nantes (June 10), Montreal–Palma de Mallorca (June 17), and Toronto–Ponta Delgada (June 11).
Brussels Airport is a Star Alliance hub, meaning Halifax passengers gain seamless onward connections via Air Canada's alliance partners to a broad European network. The route gives Nova Scotia's largest city and airport its first direct link to Belgium and one of the most important European transfer hubs — the seat of the EU institutions, NATO headquarters, and the Eurostar rail network. For Belgium-based travelers, it provides a nonstop option to Atlantic Canada without connecting through Toronto or Montreal.
