EgyptAir (MS) will launch its inaugural nonstop service between Birmingham Airport (BHX) and Cairo International Airport (CAI) on October 27, 2026, becoming the first airline to connect the two cities without a stopover. The route will operate year-round, four times per week — on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays — aboard the airline's newly acquired Boeing 737-8 aircraft.
The service marks a major expansion of Birmingham's Egyptian network, which currently comprises only seasonal leisure routes to Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh. BHX–CAI will become the airport's sole year-round direct link to Egypt, giving Midlands travellers access to Cairo without transiting through London or another hub.
EgyptAir described the four-day-per-week schedule as a "highly versatile" option for business and leisure travellers, and noted that passengers will gain access to its wider Star Alliance network through Cairo, with onward connections across Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. Birmingham Airport recorded a record 13.7 million passengers in 2025, underpinning the commercial case for the route.
The new route was announced alongside EgyptAir's planned addition of Zanzibar to its African network, reflecting a broader international expansion phase for Egypt's flag carrier in 2026. As the Midlands' only direct Egypt capital link, the BHX–CAI service fills a long-standing connectivity gap for the region's significant diaspora and business communities.
