Delta Air Lines will resume daily nonstop service between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and Tokyo Narita International Airport (NRT) starting March 27, 2027, the airline announced on August 7, 2026. Flights will operate on Airbus A330-900neo aircraft featuring Delta One business class, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+, and Main Cabin.
The launch marks Delta's return to Narita after a seven-year absence that began during the early COVID-19 pandemic. Delta already operates nonstop Seattle-Haneda flights, and adding Narita creates two Tokyo gateway options from Seattle-Tacoma, which the airline describes as its premier Pacific gateway.
"Japan continues to be one of the most important and beloved destinations in Delta's global network and adding Seattle-Narita service gives our customers even more choice when planning their travel," said Jeff Arinder, Delta's Vice President of International Network Planning, per the Delta Air Lines press release.
Delta currently serves Tokyo Haneda from six US cities: Atlanta, Detroit, Honolulu, Los Angeles, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and Seattle. The Narita launch will be the carrier's first service to that airport since its transpacific network was wound down early in the pandemic. Narita carries significance through Delta's Northwest Airlines heritage, which had an extensive Narita hub operation before the two airlines merged in 2008.
The route also provides additional cargo capacity between Japan and the US West Coast. Seattle-Narita is already served by Alaska Airlines and Japan Airlines, making it a competitive market. FOX 13 Seattle confirmed the route will begin March 27, 2027, consistent with the start of the IATA summer schedule.
