Jazeera Airways launched direct service between Kuwait International Airport and Addis Ababa on 7 September 2026, marking the Kuwaiti low-cost carrier's first destination in East Africa. The airline operates three weekly flights on the route. The inaugural flight was celebrated at Jazeera Terminal 5, with the Ethiopian Ambassador to Kuwait and airline executives in attendance.

Aviation Week described the route as targeting Kuwait's Ethiopian community of more than 70,000 people, alongside growing tourism, trade and business demand between the two countries. The Ethiopian Ambassador described the launch as a significant step in bilateral relations, noting that direct connectivity would foster tourism, trade, investment and cultural exchange while easing travel for Kuwait's resident Ethiopian population.

Jazeera Airways is a Kuwait-based low-cost carrier with a network spanning the Middle East, South Asia and Europe. The Addis Ababa service extends the airline's reach into Sub-Saharan Africa for the first time, adding East Africa to a network that had previously concentrated on destinations to its north, east and west. The Kuwait-Addis Ababa route fills a gap in direct leisure and VFR (visiting friends and relatives) connectivity between the Gulf and Ethiopia.

In a separate announcement also covering winter 2026/27 plans, Jazeera said it will resume Kuwait-Prague service from 17 December and Kuwait-Krakow flights from 18 December, where it will be the sole scheduled operator on both Polish routes.
