Ryanair will launch service between Malmö Airport (MMX) and London Stansted Airport (STN) from October 25, 2026, the start of the IATA winter 2026/27 season. The route is one of five new Swedish services in the carrier's record winter 2026 programme for Sweden, announced September 10, per the Ryanair corporate press release. Boeing 737 aircraft will operate the service.
Ryanair's expanded Sweden schedule covers 43 routes with eight based aircraft — including one additional Boeing 737 newly stationed at Stockholm Arlanda — targeting 4.6 million annual passengers in Sweden, a 16% uplift, with total fleet investment across the country at US$800 million. The five new winter routes also add Stockholm–Rabat, Stockholm–Warsaw, Stockholm–Wroclaw, and Gothenburg–Budapest, per Aviation24.be.
Malmö, in southern Sweden's Skåne region, is the country's third-largest city and closely integrated with Copenhagen across the Øresund Bridge. The new Malmö–London route provides a direct, low-cost option to the UK for travelers in southern Sweden and the broader Öresund region, allowing them to avoid a connecting transfer through Stockholm Arlanda for UK-bound flights.
Ryanair CEO Eddie Wilson warned that Sweden's competitive aviation environment faces risk from a projected 67% increase in airport security fees from March 2027, calling on the government to reverse Swedavia's proposed charges to protect future growth.
