Air Transat will launch weekly nonstop service between Montreal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) and Faro Airport (FAO) from June 14, 2027, using an Airbus A321LR. The route was among five new Summer 2027 European services announced on October 29, 2026, according to Aviation Week.
Faro will become Air Transat's third Portugal destination from Montreal, joining Lisbon and Porto. The carrier already operates Montreal-Faro from Toronto (YYZ), where it offers approximately 37,000 two-way seats in Summer 2027, according to Aviation Week. The new YUL-FAO route brings the Algarve gateway within reach of Montreal travellers without a connection.
Simple Flying confirmed the Montreal-Faro route in its coverage of Air Transat's October 29 announcement, listing a June 14, 2027 start date with weekly A321LR operations.
The Faro announcement is part of a broader Air Transat push into thinner transatlantic markets made viable by the A321LR's range. All five new Summer 2027 routes use the long-range narrowbody, which allows the carrier to serve secondary European cities and smaller Canadian departure airports without widebody economics.
