Air Transat Launches Toronto–Accra, Connecting Canada Directly to Ghana Twice Weekly
Air Transat launched twice-weekly nonstop flights from Toronto Pearson to Accra on June 17, adding Ghana to Canada's transatlantic map alongside the simultaneous Montreal–Dakar launch.
Air Transat launched twice-weekly nonstop service between Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Kotoka International Airport (ACC) in Accra, Ghana, on June 17, 2026. The route is part of Air Transat's 2026 summer expansion into West Africa, running alongside the Montreal–Dakar service that also launched June 17.
The Toronto–Accra connection was confirmed by Aviation Week, which noted the route operates twice weekly from June 17, 2026. The service gives Canadian travelers a direct link to Ghana's capital — West Africa's largest city by GDP — without the multi-hour European layovers previously required.
Ghana attracts both diaspora travelers and a growing segment of Canadian leisure visitors drawn to its history, beaches, and position as one of West Africa's most stable and accessible countries. Accra's Kotoka International Airport is one of the busiest in the region, serving as a gateway to the wider West African subcontinent.
The Toronto–Accra route is listed among Air Transat's summer 2026 new international services alongside Toronto–Tirana, Montreal–Dakar, Montreal–Agadir, Montreal–Reykjavik, Ottawa–London Gatwick, Quebec City–Marseille, and Quebec City–Nantes, according to Travelweek and PAX News. Together, the Accra and Dakar routes mark Air Transat's first sustained presence in sub-Saharan Africa.
