Air Transat will launch the first-ever nonstop service between Quebec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB) and Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) on June 14, 2027. The weekly route operates through October 25, 2027, using an Airbus A321LR. The announcement was made on October 29, 2026, according to Aviation Week.
Aviation Week described the new route as "the first nonstop connection between Quebec City and Spain." The service extends Air Transat's European network from YQB to five destinations, alongside existing flights to Paris Charles de Gaulle, Marseille and Nantes, and the new Lyon service that starts June 8.
Simple Flying confirmed the Quebec City-Barcelona route in its coverage of Air Transat's October 29 activities, noting the June 14, 2027 launch with weekly A321LR operations.
The route gives Quebec City travellers a nonstop option to Spain's most-visited city, previously requiring a connection through Montreal, Toronto or a European hub. Air Transat already operates Montreal-Barcelona and Toronto-Barcelona services, making the YQB-BCN addition part of a systematic expansion of the carrier's Spanish market presence.
