TAP Air Portugal launched nonstop service between Lisbon Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) and Athens Eleftherios Venizelos Airport (ATH) on July 1, 2026, with five weekly departures operated with Airbus A320neo aircraft. TAP confirmed the launch via its official channels, describing the service as a new route on its Facebook page, while Business Travel News included the route in its July 1 weekly update.
The route was first announced in January 2026 as a year-round addition to TAP's European network, pairing Lisbon — the Portuguese carrier's main hub and a key transatlantic stopover for passengers from South America and Africa — with one of Europe's fastest-growing aviation markets. Athens has seen strong leisure demand and increased business traffic in recent years.
The direct service reduces the Lisbon–Athens journey to approximately three and a half hours, eliminating the connections currently required on most itineraries between the two capitals. The A320neo is configured in two cabin classes: business and economy. Fares for July 2026 departures are listed on TAP's booking platform from USD 665 for a round-trip economy and from USD 1,024 in business, according to flytap.com.
Year-round scheduling distinguishes this route from many Southern European services that operate only in summer. TAP's network from Lisbon currently spans more than 90 destinations across Europe, the Americas, and Africa, with Athens joining as a new permanent European point.
