Singapore Airlines will operate the restored Madrid service as a single SQ388/SQ387 routing: Singapore Changi (SIN) nonstop to Barcelona El Prat (BCN), then continuing to Madrid Barajas (MAD), with the same aircraft reversing the sequence on the return. Barcelona shifts from twice-weekly standalone service to five-weekly as part of this extension, replacing the prior nonstop SIN–BCN operation, per Simple Flying. Block times for the complete Singapore–Barcelona–Madrid itinerary reach approximately 16 hours.
The Airbus A350-900 deployed on the route carries 253 seats in the long-haul configuration across Business, Premium Economy, and Economy cabins, per Aviation A2Z. Passengers should note that the Barcelona–Madrid sector on SQ388/SQ387 cannot be booked as a standalone domestic Spanish ticket; the itinerary must originate or terminate in Singapore.
In its announcement, Singapore Airlines stated: "Madrid is also an increasingly popular tourist destination, as well as a financial and business hub. These new services will give our customers more choice and greater value when planning their travel."
The Madrid launch is part of the carrier's winter 2026/27 schedule running October 25, 2026 through March 27, 2027, during which Singapore Airlines plans to exceed 2,530 weekly passenger flights. Europe as a whole receives a 15–20% capacity increase versus the prior winter, with London Heathrow, Frankfurt, Munich, and London Gatwick all gaining frequencies, per Mainly Miles.
