Qantas will launch the world's first scheduled nonstop service between Australia and Las Vegas on December 29, 2026, when flight QF55 departs Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD) for Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS). The seasonal service operates three times weekly on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays through March 12, 2027, according to the carrier's official newsroom announcement.
The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner will cover the route in just under 14 hours, saving passengers up to five hours compared with current one-stop itineraries, Time Out Sydney reports. QF55 departs Sydney at 9:00 PM and arrives Las Vegas at 3:55 PM local time the same calendar day.
Las Vegas becomes Qantas's 101st international destination and its fifth mainland US city, joining Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas/Fort Worth, and New York JFK, the carrier confirmed in its agency portal announcement. Qantas had previously operated charter flights to Las Vegas in partnership with the NRL for two consecutive years; the scheduled nonstop formalizes demand validated by those sold-out charter operations.
The route is timed to serve Las Vegas events including CES, world-class residencies, and the Rugby League Las Vegas Festival, which draws large Australian audiences each northern hemisphere winter.
