Fiji Airways will begin three-weekly nonstop service between Western Sydney International Airport (WSI), officially named Nancy-Bird Walton Airport, and Nadi International Airport (NAN) in Fiji from 19 March 2027, as confirmed by Destination NSW and Travel PR News.
Flights operate on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays using Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft with capacity for up to 170 passengers including 8 Business Class seats. Flight FJ 990 departs Western Sydney at 23:55 and arrives in Nadi at 04:55 the following morning; return flight FJ 991 departs Nadi at 19:10 and arrives at Western Sydney at 22:55. Introductory economy fares start from AU$639 return, bookable through 23 September 2026, per the Canberra Times.
Fiji Airways will become the fourth international carrier to announce services at WSI and the only airline offering direct flights from the airport to Fiji. The new service adds capacity without replacing the airline's existing twice-daily service from Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD): on operating days, Fiji Airways will offer as many as three frequencies between Fiji and the greater Sydney region, per Travel PR News.
WSI CEO Simon Hickey noted that 400,000 passengers travelled between New South Wales and Fiji in 2025. Aviation Week reported the route will add more than 53,000 annual seats and cited Fiji Airways' stated intent to support western Sydney's large Fijian community.
