Greater Bay Airlines (GBA) launched its inaugural service between Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) and Juanda International Airport in Surabaya, Indonesia (SUB) on September 25, 2026, the carrier announced in an official press release the following day. The new scheduled service marks GBA's first foothold in the Indonesian market.
The route operates four times weekly — on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays — using Boeing 737-800 aircraft. HB211 departs Hong Kong at 6:15 PM and arrives in Surabaya at 10:00 PM local time; HB212 returns from Surabaya at 10:45 PM, arriving in Hong Kong at 4:30 AM the following morning, according to AeroRoutes.
FlyTeam notes the Hong Kong–Surabaya air distance at approximately 2,050 miles (3,300 km). GBA operates the route alongside Cathay Pacific Airways, which also provides direct service on the corridor.
GBA Vice Chairman and CEO Hou Wei said: "We are delighted to launch a scheduled service to Surabaya, Indonesia, further expanding our network in the region. GBA currently operates more than 20 scheduled and seasonal routes across Asia and the Chinese Mainland. We will continue to proactively explore new destinations to meet market demand."
Surabaya is Indonesia's second-largest city and the commercial capital of East Java, expected to generate a mix of business and leisure traffic. AeroRoutes had first reported GBA's plans for the route in March 2026, with an original target of July 2026 before the launch shifted to September.
