Frontier Airlines will launch nonstop service between Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) and New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA) on November 20, 2026. Flights will operate daily during peak holiday travel periods and three times weekly at other times, according to the carrier's official announcement on September 17.
The route revives a city pair formerly served by Spirit Airlines, which ceased operations earlier in 2026. With the LaGuardia addition, Frontier will operate nonstop service to 15 destinations from Detroit, of which 11 were previously served by Spirit, as the ultra-low-cost carrier continues to absorb market share left by Spirit's collapse, according to Aviation Week.
Frontier already operates at all three major New York-area airports — JFK, Newark and LaGuardia — but the Detroit link is new to its LGA network. The carrier announced it will also increase frequencies from Detroit to Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, Orlando and Miami as part of the same Detroit expansion push. Combined, the additions mean Frontier expects to offer 41% more total available seats from DTW in March 2027 compared with March 2026.
