Condor will launch daily nonstop service between Frankfurt Airport (FRA) and Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) from May 14, 2027, running seasonally through September 12, 2027. The German leisure carrier announced the route on July 30, 2026, making O'Hare its 12th gateway in the United States and Canada, according to Business Travel News.
Flights will operate daily on the airline's Airbus A330-900, configured with 310 seats across three cabins: 30 in business class with fully lie-flat seats and direct aisle access from every seat, 64 in premium economy, and 216 in economy. Westbound block time is approximately nine hours and 20 minutes, according to Simple Flying.
The route puts Condor in direct competition with Star Alliance partners Lufthansa and United Airlines, both of which operate on the Frankfurt–Chicago corridor — United from its O'Hare hub and Lufthansa from its Frankfurt home base. CEO Peter Gerber said: "Chicago is an ideal addition to our North American network and a market with significant potential for both leisure and business travel," according to Aviation Week.
The launch coincides with Condor's planned move to Frankfurt Airport's new Terminal 3 for the summer 2027 schedule, which the carrier says will provide shorter walking distances and more efficient transfer connections for passengers connecting to European destinations. FlightGlobal reports that Condor currently operates 18 A330-900s and plans to expand the fleet to 25 by 2031. Chicago joins an existing North American network that includes Boston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York, Portland, San Francisco, and Seattle in the US, plus Calgary, Toronto, and Vancouver in Canada.
