La Compagnie, the French all-business-class boutique carrier, announced on September 7, 2026 that it will launch nonstop service between Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Düsseldorf Airport (DUS), beginning April 21, 2027. The seasonal route will operate up to five times weekly during the summer season on an Airbus A321LR configured with 76 lie-flat seats in a 2-2 layout — every seat a business-class flatbed, with no economy cabin.
The new service will be the only nonstop connection between New York and Düsseldorf when it launches. Aerospace Global News notes that Düsseldorf last had a New York nonstop when Eurowings suspended its Newark–DUS flights in 2020; before that, Lufthansa had operated the route for over a decade until transferring it to Eurowings in 2018, and Air Berlin flew DUS–JFK until its 2017 collapse.
La Compagnie cited strong business demand: North Rhine-Westphalia — Germany's most populous state, home to Düsseldorf — is a major trade-show hub and base for international companies including Amazon, FedEx, Microsoft, and UPS. The airline noted that Düsseldorf's NRW region is "one of the world's leading trade show destinations and a hub for international companies across fashion, telecommunications, life sciences, professional services and advanced manufacturing."
Newark is La Compagnie's sole U.S. gateway. The carrier currently serves EWR to Paris-Orly (ORY), Nice (NCE), and Milan-Malpensa (MXP), making Düsseldorf its fourth European destination. Business Travel News included the route in its week-ending September 11 roundup.
