IndiGo Launches Daily Mumbai to Dar es Salaam, Becoming the Only

IndiGo will launch daily nonstop service between Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) and Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam (DAR) from 20 November 2026, making it the only Indian airline operating a direct service on this route, according to the airline's official press release published by Aviation Defence Universe.

Flights operate as 6E 1851 (BOM 02:20 - DAR 06:05) and 6E 1852 (DAR 07:05 - BOM 15:55) on Airbus A320neo aircraft, seven days a week. The route remains subject to regulatory approvals at time of announcement.

AeroRoutes first listed the schedule on 9 September, the same week IndiGo issued its press release. The launch adds to IndiGo's existing Africa footprint, which includes direct services from India to Nairobi, Mauritius, and Seychelles. Dar es Salaam, Tanzania's largest city and its main commercial and port hub, has until now been reachable from India primarily via Gulf connecting hubs.

IndiGo described the new service as strengthening trade, commerce, and cultural ties between India and Tanzania. The airline carried more than 120 million passengers in 2025 and operates approximately 2,200 daily flights across 140 destinations, including more than 80 codeshare destinations with partner airlines, according to Aviation Week's Routes Asia 2026 finalists coverage. The Dar es Salaam route continues IndiGo's strategy of opening long-haul narrowbody services to underserved markets where connecting itineraries dominate.
