VietJet Air inaugurated its Hanoi–Prague route on 10 October 2026 as a one-stop service with a fuel and crew stop at Almaty International Airport (ALA) in Kazakhstan. Aviation Week reported the launch came three months later than originally planned, and confirmed that VietJet exercises fifth-freedom rights on the Almaty–Prague sector.
The service operates twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays aboard Airbus A330-300 aircraft with a capacity of 377 passengers, as confirmed by VietnamPlus. Inaugural ceremonies were held at both Almaty International Airport and Václav Havel Airport Prague with traditional water cannon salutes, according to TravelMole.
The route establishes the first scheduled air link between Vietnam and the Czech Republic, and also the first nonstop connection between Almaty and Prague, per Aviation Week. That report, citing Sabre Market Intelligence data, notes approximately 89,300 two-way origin-and-destination passengers traveled between Vietnam and the Czech Republic in 2025, with Hanoi–Prague accounting for about 72% of that demand.
AeroRoutes first reported VietJet's schedule filing in May 2026. VietJet Air's official booking page confirms tickets are on sale for travel from 10 October 2026.
