Vietjet made aviation history on September 23, 2026, when inaugural flight VJ5074 departed Moscow Sheremetyevo International Airport (SVO) and landed at Cam Ranh International Airport (CXR), carrying close to 370 passengers. The service makes Vietjet the first Vietnamese airline to operate a direct scheduled flight from the Russian capital to Vietnam, a route previously served only by Russian carriers.

Cam Ranh Airport serves the coastal resort city of Nha Trang in Khanh Hoa Province, a destination with rapidly growing Russian visitor numbers. According to figures cited by Cam Ranh International Terminal and the Khanh Hoa Tourism Promotion Center, the province received 851,390 Russian tourists in the first eight months of 2026, a roughly threefold increase compared to the same period in 2025. The inaugural flight was fully booked.

The route will operate three times weekly through the end of 2026, before stepping up to five flights per week from January 2027. Vietjet, Anex Vietnam Trading and Tourism Co., Ltd., and local tourism authorities jointly organized a welcome ceremony at Cam Ranh for the inaugural arrival.

Aviation Week's Routes 360 weekly digest, published September 30, 2026, highlighted the launch as a key story of the week, citing it as adding Vietnamese-flagged capacity to a market previously reliant on Russian-operated services. The flight marks a new chapter in direct aviation links between Russia and Vietnam, which tourism authorities expect to carry between 1 million and 1.2 million Russian visitors by year-end 2026.
