VietJet Air will begin scheduled service between Hanoi Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) and Prague Václav Havel Airport (PRG) on October 10, 2026, operating twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays via a transit stop in Almaty, Kazakhstan (ALA). The route uses Airbus A330-300 aircraft configured for 377 passengers. The eastbound schedule has the aircraft departing Hanoi at 8:45 AM and arriving Prague at 6:30 PM; the return departs Prague at 8:30 PM and arrives Hanoi at 4:45 PM the following day.
Business Traveller confirmed the October 10 start date and noted the service was originally planned for July 11 before being postponed. Prague Daily News cited Prague Airport CEO Jiří Pos: "Vietnam represents the strongest market in terms of passenger numbers with which we have not yet had a direct air connection."
Aviation Week reported the announcement in its W/C May 25 rolling update, noting that more than 75,000 passengers traveled between Prague and Hanoi in 2025 without any nonstop service. Prague Airport projects more than 67,000 passengers annually on the new route once launched.
The service is particularly important for the large Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic, estimated at around 60,000 people. VietJet CEO Nguyen Thanh Son confirmed that additional European routes from both Vietnam and Thailand are in planning.
