Riyadh Air (RX) announced on June 30, 2026, the launch of seasonal nonstop service between Riyadh King Khalid International Airport (RUH) and Málaga–Costa del Sol Airport (AGP). Flights begin July 14 and operate through September 8, with three weekly departures using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, per the Saudi Press Agency.
The Malaga announcement came simultaneously with the disclosure of a new Kuala Lumpur route (launching July 30) and was published as Riyadh Air began selling tickets directly through its app, website, and authorized travel partners. FlightGlobal confirmed the thrice-weekly seasonal schedule and noted the SPA statement marks Riyadh Air's second Spanish destination — with Madrid inaugurating on July 17, three days later.
The Malaga route targets leisure travelers visiting Spain's Costa del Sol during the peak summer season, while also reinforcing the carrier's strategic ties to Spain through its sponsorship of Atlético Madrid and the Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium, as Aviation Week noted in its July 1 daily update. Business Travel News separately confirmed the route. The addition of Malaga and Kuala Lumpur brings Riyadh Air's planned network to eight destinations by August 2026, supported by a 787-9 fleet of five aircraft with a sixth aircraft expected shortly.
