Air Canada Starts Montreal–Mallorca Nonstops, First-Ever Canadian Scheduled Flights to the Balearics
Air Canada has launched four-weekly nonstop flights from Montreal to Palma de Mallorca, becoming the first Canadian carrier to serve the Spanish Balearic island with scheduled service.
Air Canada launched four-times-weekly nonstop service between Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) and Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI) on June 17, 2026, becoming the first Canadian carrier to operate scheduled flights to Spain's Balearic Islands. Flights depart Montreal on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays using Boeing 787-8 widebody aircraft, with the seasonal service running through October 23, 2026.
The route was first announced in Air Canada's official September 10, 2025 press release alongside new services to Catania (Sicily) and resumed flights to Shanghai and Budapest. Executive VP and Chief Commercial Officer Mark Galardo stated that Air Canada is "the only airline operating scheduled service from Canada to Sicily and Mallorca," with Aviation Week noting the airline is only the second North American carrier to serve Mallorca after United Airlines.
Notably, Aviation Week confirmed that the Mallorca service switched aircraft type: the Boeing 787-8 replaced the Airbus A321XLR that was originally planned for the route. The widebody configuration provides three cabins including Business Class with lie-flat seats, more premium capacity than the narrowbody that initially appeared in the schedule.
Palma de Mallorca is the capital of the Balearic Islands and one of Europe's most popular summer leisure destinations, drawing beach tourists and yacht travelers. The route pairs with Air Canada's Montreal–Catania Mediterranean strategy, aiming to capture Canadians seeking sun destinations in southern Europe without a hub connection.
