Porter Airlines will launch four weekly nonstop flights between London International Airport (YXU) in Ontario and Cancún International Airport (CUN) beginning December 17, 2026, as part of its historic inaugural service at the airport, according to the official press release.
Flights operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays using Porter's 132-seat Embraer E195-E2. The Cancún launch is the third of four routes Porter is opening from YXU this winter, following Fort Lauderdale (November 18) and Orlando (November 19), with Montego Bay added the next day on December 18.
All four winter routes use the E195-E2, which Porter configures without a middle seat in economy alongside complimentary snacks, beer and wine, and free streaming Wi-Fi. The product positions Porter competitively against connecting itineraries through Toronto Pearson that require a significant overland drive from the London, Ontario region.
Cancún, as one of the most popular Mexican resort destinations for Canadian leisure travellers, is a commercially logical first Mexico market for the airline's new YXU base. According to Business Wire via Yahoo Finance, Porter's commitment at YXU extends beyond winter 2026, with a full year-round domestic schedule from London planned from summer 2027.
TravelPulse Canada confirmed the Cancún route as part of the broader four-destination announcement on August 26, 2026.
