Breeze Airways launched twice-weekly nonstop service between Tampa International Airport (TPA) and Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) in San José, Costa Rica, on October 3, 2026, using Airbus A220-300 aircraft. The route covers 1,246 miles (2,005 km) and is the only nonstop service between the two cities, restoring direct Tampa–Costa Rica service after more than 25 years, according to Simple Flying.
The launch marks Breeze's entry into Central America — its first country in the region — less than nine months after the airline operated its first-ever scheduled international flight (Norfolk–Cancún in January 2026). Tampa Airport's official X account confirmed: "FLIGHTS TO COSTA RICA BEGIN NEXT WEEK! @BreezeAirways will launch nonstop flights from TPA to San Jose on October 3."
Tampa is becoming the center of Breeze's international push: by year-end 2026 the airline plans foreign TPA service to Nassau, Punta Cana, San José, Cancún, and Montego Bay, alongside St. Thomas. Tickets are on sale from approximately $129 one-way on Breeze's official booking page.
Breeze's A220-300 enables economically viable twice-weekly service on thinner international routes that legacy carriers typically overlook.
