British Airways will shift its London-Tampa service from London Gatwick (LGW) to London Heathrow (LHR) starting October 25, 2026, per the airline's new routes page. The LHR-Tampa airport pair is new for British Airways; the carrier has served Tampa International Airport (TPA) from Gatwick since 1985, a span of over 40 years, according to Simple Flying.
The route spans 3,847 nautical miles (7,125 km) each way, per Simple Flying. The Gatwick-era service used a three-cabin Boeing 777-200ER; the Heathrow operation deploys a four-cabin Boeing 787-10 featuring a First Class cabin, per One Mile at a Time. Flight BA211 departs Heathrow at 12:45 and arrives Tampa at 17:30; the return BA210 departs Tampa at 19:55 and arrives Heathrow at 09:15 the following day, per One Mile at a Time.
At launch the service operates 5x weekly, per Simple Flying, with daily operation planned for summer 2027. The move places BA in direct Heathrow competition with Virgin Atlantic, which operates 3x weekly LHR-TPA service. The transfer also concentrates BA's US flying at LHR; only one Gatwick-US route, London Gatwick to Orlando, remains for the coming winter.
