Breeze Airways launched new seasonal nonstop service between Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) and John Wayne Airport, Orange County (SNA), California on 29 May 2026, operating twice weekly on the Airbus A220-300 (AeroRoutes). The route is a brand-new city pair: no airline has previously served the RDU–SNA market nonstop.
At approximately 1,923 nautical miles (3,561 km) each way, the route ranks as one of Breeze's longer domestic services — its seventh-longest system-wide at launch (Simple Flying). Orange County's SNA airport serves the southern Los Angeles basin, and the new route gives Raleigh/Durham travelers direct access to Southern California without transiting through LAX or other major hubs. Local Raleigh-Durham outlet WRAL confirmed the service as a new twice-weekly seasonal operation (WRAL).
The launch is part of a seven-route May 2026 expansion by Breeze, with Raleigh/Durham serving as one of the carrier's most active focus airports. Breeze's point-to-point ULCC model specifically targets underserved city pairs that legacy carriers neglect. The A220-300 is configured with two-by-two seating and no middle seats, a key differentiation for longer thin routes. Tickets are available at flybreeze.com.
