Jazeera Airways operated its inaugural flight between Kuwait International Airport (KWI) and Milan Bergamo Airport (BGY) on May 24, 2026, establishing the first nonstop air link between Kuwait and northern Italy. The route operates three times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays using Airbus A320neo aircraft.
CEO Barathan Pasupathi said the Milan Bergamo launch marks "another important milestone" in the airline's network expansion and reflects growing demand for direct Kuwait–Europe connectivity. Italy is described as a top-tier destination for both leisure and business travelers from Kuwait. Jazeera currently serves over 34 destinations across the Middle East, Central and South Asia, Africa, and Europe and has offered more than two million seats for summer 2026 across 60+ routes.
Giacomo Cattaneo, director of commercial aviation at SACBO, said the service expands Milan Bergamo's Middle East network and creates new opportunities for tourism, business travel, and VFR traffic between Northern Italy and the Gulf. The route gives Kuwaiti travelers direct access to the Lombardy and Lake Como regions and onward connections across Italy.
Milan Bergamo's catchment area, covering parts of Lombardy and neighboring regions, is a growing hub for low-cost and leisure carriers. Jazeera joins other Middle Eastern carriers at the airport, building the route as part of its European expansion ambitions for the second half of 2026.
