British Airways will launch nonstop flights from London Heathrow (LHR) to Fuerteventura (FUE) on 13 December 2026, operating twice weekly through the winter season aboard the Airbus A320ceo configured with 156 seats. British Airways' own new-routes page confirms the December 2026 start, noting flights will depart Heathrow rather than Gatwick going forward. Cirium data cited by Simple Flying confirms no direct LHR–FUE service has ever previously operated.
The new Heathrow service replaces a BA Euroflyer operation from London Gatwick (LGW) that launched in November 2023. The move to Heathrow — which carries considerably higher airport fees — signals stronger-than-expected route performance and yield. In 2025, approximately 5,000 round-trip passengers flew from LHR to FUE, most connecting through Madrid Barajas with Iberia. InsideFlyer reports outbound departures are scheduled for 07:05 on Thursdays and 10:05 on Sundays.
Despite that indirect demand, Fuerteventura remains the least-served Canary Island from London compared to Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Tenerife South. For winter 2026/27, Fuerteventura from London will also be served by easyJet from Gatwick and Luton, Jet2 from Stansted and Gatwick, Ryanair from Stansted and TUI from Gatwick. BA and Iberia together plan 183 weekly winter flights from LHR to Spain in the same period.
