Alaska Airlines will launch seasonal nonstop service between San Diego International Airport (SAN) and Loreto International Airport (LTO) in Baja California Sur, Mexico, on December 19, 2026. The route will run through April 28, 2027, operating twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Flights will be operated by SkyWest Airlines on behalf of Alaska using Embraer E175 regional jets.
The new service makes Alaska the only airline flying nonstop between San Diego and Loreto, according to the airline's official press release issued September 3, 2026. San Diego will also become the fourth U.S. airport with nonstop international service to Loreto, per Fox 5 San Diego.
The route marks Alaska's 50th nonstop destination from San Diego International Airport, coinciding with the carrier's 40th anniversary of service at the airport. Loreto is known for its coastal scenery, outdoor recreation, and access to the Sea of Cortez, making it a natural fit for winter leisure demand from Southern California.
Alaska President and CEO Ben Minicucci noted the milestone in the press release, framing Loreto as a direct response to passenger demand for uncrowded Mexican coastal destinations. Tickets are on sale now through Alaska Airlines and partner platforms.
