Volotea launched twice-weekly flights between San Sebastian Airport (EAS) and Florence Amerigo Vespucci Airport (FLR) on September 21, 2026, creating the only direct air link between Italy and the Basque city. Initial services operate on Mondays and Thursdays, switching to Thursdays and Sundays from November. The frequency remains two flights per week throughout, per the published schedule cited by Avion Tourism.
The launch is part of a broader Volotea expansion at Florence. The carrier opened four new routes from Florence during the third week of September 2026, adding connections to Seville, Valencia, Berlin, Oviedo, and Strasbourg alongside San Sebastian, Aviation Direct reports. These additions bring Volotea's Florence network to 18 destinations, cementing the Tuscan airport as one of the carrier's key Italian bases.
San Sebastian sits within the Basque Country and attracts visitors for its internationally recognized culinary scene, beaches, and film festival. The direct Florence link gives travelers in northern Spain a nonstop option to Tuscany without routing via Madrid or Barcelona.
