Air India Express launched twice-weekly nonstop flights between Visakhapatnam (VTZ) and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi (BKK) on October 27, 2026, opening the first direct scheduled air link between the two cities. The service operates on Tuesdays and Fridays under flight numbers IX0904 (outbound) and IX0903 (return), according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
Flight IX0904 departs Visakhapatnam at 11:35 and arrives in Bangkok at 16:00, while the return IX0903 departs Bangkok at 02:10 and arrives in Visakhapatnam at 03:55 (all times local).
The new route expands Air India Express's international network from India's regional cities at a time of rapid growth in the India-Thailand air market. Aviation Week reported that the corridor had 427 weekly flights and more than 83,500 weekly seats across 11 airlines in October 2026, supported by Thailand's extension of 30-day visa-free entry to Indian passport holders from September 15. Thailand recorded nearly 1.9 million arrivals from India between January 1 and October 26, 2026.
Visakhapatnam, also known as Vizag, is one of India's fastest-growing port and technology cities on the Bay of Bengal coast. Air India Express, part of the Air India Group, focuses on low-cost services between India's secondary cities and international leisure and labor markets across Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand welcomed the inaugural flight at Suvarnabhumi with a formal delegation, citing the route's potential to attract high-value leisure and wellness travelers from India's emerging regional cities, as confirmed by Travel Daily Media.
