American Airlines to Resume Miami–Cap-Haïtien Flights, First U.S. Carrier Back to Haiti
American Airlines announced it will resume daily Miami–Cap-Haïtien flights on November 1, becoming the first U.S. airline to announce service to Haiti since major carriers suspended operations in late 2024.
American Airlines announced on June 13, 2026, that it will resume daily nonstop service between Miami International Airport (MIA) and Cap-Haïtien International Airport (CAP) beginning November 1, 2026. The route will be operated using Boeing 737 aircraft with a premium cabin and free high-speed Wi-Fi sponsored by AT&T, per the airline's official press release.
American becomes the first U.S. airline to formally announce a return to Haiti since major U.S. carriers suspended operations in late 2024 amid security concerns. Cap-Haïtien, Haiti's second-largest city and the country's northern economic and cultural hub, will become American's 100th destination in Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America — a milestone reached in the airline's centennial year.
The announcement was made alongside the confirmed July 14 launch of Miami–Maracaibo service. Together, both routes deepen American's commitment to its Miami hub as the largest U.S. gateway to the region. The airline's winter network in Latin America and the Caribbean is planned to be nearly 50% larger than its nearest U.S. competitor, per Live and Let's Fly.
American previously served Cap-Haïtien before the 2024 suspension. The November 1 start date aligns with the peak winter Caribbean travel season. AirlineGeeks and Simple Flying independently confirmed the announcement and launch date.
