Etihad Airways will launch the first direct service between Abu Dhabi's Zayed International Airport (AUH) and Luxembourg Findel Airport (LUX) on October 29, 2026, operated three times weekly with Airbus A321neo-family aircraft. The launch makes Etihad the first Middle Eastern airline to serve Luxembourg (Etihad Airways).
Aviation Week reported that the route is designed to capture both local Luxembourg demand and spillover traffic from the neighboring areas of Belgium, France and Germany, which lie within easy driving distance of Luxembourg Findel. Luxembourg is home to several EU institutional bodies and is a major European financial center, generating both corporate and diplomatic travel.
The route is part of a wider winter 2026-27 expansion by Etihad, which is also launching Abu Dhabi-Calgary service and new flights to Saudi Arabia's Red Sea International Airport during October. A promotional pop-up event at The Galleria Al Maryah Island in Abu Dhabi in late September and early October featured Luxembourg among the carrier's newly available destinations for the October 2026 to March 2027 travel period (Lovin Abu Dhabi).
Note: Etihad's own official announcement cites three weekly flights from October 29. An earlier Aviation Week roundup cited four weekly flights; the airline's own published schedule is used here.
