Copa Airlines announced on August 4, 2026 the launch of three-weekly scheduled service between Panama City's Tocumen International Airport (PTY) and General Santiago Marino Caribbean International Airport in Porlamar (PMV) on Venezuela's Margarita Island. Flights begin November 26, 2026, per Aviacionaldia and confirmed on Copa's own booking platform.
Portlamar becomes Copa's sixth Venezuelan destination, joining Caracas, Valencia, Maracaibo, Barcelona, and Barquisimeto, and its second in eastern Venezuela. Aviation Week noted the route is currently unserved, citing OAG Schedules Analyser data. With Porlamar added, Copa will operate 46 weekly frequencies between Panama and Venezuela, making Venezuela the airline's fourth-largest continental market by number of served cities, behind only the United States, Brazil, and Colombia, per Aviacionaldia.
Copa's General Manager for Venezuela Roberto Pulido cited the carrier's 28 years of continuous presence in the country and the route's expected stimulus to inbound tourism in Nueva Esparta State. The announcement comes during a period of contingency operations for Copa in Venezuela following disruptions at Caracas' Simon Bolivar International Airport caused by seismic events in June 2026. Tickets became available for purchase on copaair.com from August 4, 2026.
