Alaska Airlines announced on July 15, 2026, that it will launch daily nonstop service between Honolulu Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) and Boise Airport (BOI) starting December 17, 2026, using Boeing 737 aircraft.
The seasonal route will be the only nonstop connection between Hawaii and Idaho. Alaska said the service targets leisure travelers and VFR (visiting friends and relatives) traffic between Hawaii and the Mountain West, providing a direct path that currently requires a connection through Seattle or another West Coast hub, per Business Travel News.
The Honolulu-Boise launch is part of a coordinated winter Hawaiian network expansion. Alaska simultaneously announced weekly Honolulu-Spokane service starting December 19 and an increase on Honolulu-Las Vegas from three to four times daily during peak winter and spring periods. Aviation Week noted that Alaska will be the sole operator on both new Hawaii routes, per Aviation Week.
The announcement coincided with the merged Alaska-Hawaiian Airlines group confirming that Hawaiian Airlines will not resume its 3x weekly seasonal Honolulu-Auckland service for the 2026-27 season, citing high fuel costs, slower Pacific demand recovery, and unfavorable exchange rates. The Boise and Spokane launches concentrate new capacity on underserved domestic markets rather than international Pacific routes.
