Air Transat will launch weekly nonstop service between Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Tirana Nënë Tereza International Airport (TIA) on June 18, 2026, operated by Airbus A330-200 aircraft. The route becomes the only scheduled direct air link between North America and Albania.
The June 18 start and weekly frequency are confirmed on the official Air Transat website, corroborated by a dedicated Aviation Week article and Travelweek. Simple Flying notes the route will be "the only direct flight connecting Albania with North America."
Air Transat deploys the wider-body A330-200 on this route rather than the A321LR used on most new additions, reflecting expected demand from Toronto's sizeable Albanian-Canadian diaspora community as well as visiting friends and relatives (VFR) traffic. The 9-hour flight covers approximately 4,750 miles (4,130 nm).
Albania has seen growing outbound and inbound tourism in recent years, and Tirana has expanded its international connectivity, though transatlantic service had been entirely absent before this announcement. The Toronto–Tirana service is part of Air Transat's eight-route summer 2026 expansion, which spans destinations in Iceland, Senegal, Morocco, Albania, the UK, and France from four Canadian departure cities.
