Air Canada announced on September 3, 2026 that it will launch year-round nonstop service between Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) beginning May 4, 2027.
The route will operate three times weekly using Boeing 787 Dreamliner widebody aircraft and will not follow the seasonal pattern of most of Air Canada's other new summer 2027 routes, running instead on a year-round schedule.
Guangzhou is the capital of Guangdong Province and anchors the Pearl River Delta, one of the world's largest manufacturing and export zones and a major hub for Canada–China trade flows. Air Canada's Vancouver hub is geographically well-positioned on Great Circle routes across the Pacific.
"Summer 2027 marks the most extensive intercontinental expansion in Air Canada's history," said Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Air Canada. "From the expansive trade hub in the Pearl River Delta to the relaxing Adriatic coastline, each of our five new destinations and many schedule enhancements support commerce and tourism and create exciting new opportunities for people to explore the world."
The Vancouver–Guangzhou launch is the first of the airline's summer 2027 new-route departures by start date and complements Air Canada's existing Vancouver services to other Asian cities. The route was part of a comprehensive September 3 network announcement that added five new international destinations and seven new routes across Asia, Europe and Latin America.
