Air Arabia launched nonstop service between Sharjah International Airport (SHJ) and Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) on July 1, 2026, using Airbus A320neo aircraft. The airline's official press release describes the service as daily, with two flight numbers operating across different days of the week to accommodate varying demand patterns; Aviation Week and Gulf News both report five weekly flights.

Rome becomes Air Arabia's second Italian destination from Sharjah, joining the carrier's existing service to Milan Bergamo. Adel Al Ali, group CEO of Air Arabia, said the launch "reflects our continued commitment to offering convenient, direct connectivity to key international destinations while delivering reliable, value-driven travel options to our customers."

Ivan Bassato, chief aviation officer of Aeroporti di Roma, welcomed the route, noting that Rome Fiumicino surpassed 2 million passengers from the UAE in 2025, a 5% year-on-year increase. "The new service to Sharjah will further expand and diversify the offering to the Arabian Peninsula," he said.

With Rome added, Air Arabia's European network from Sharjah covers 10 destinations: Athens, Krakow, London Gatwick, Milan Bergamo, Munich, Prague, Rome, Vienna, Warsaw Chopin, and Warsaw Modlin, per Aviation Week.
