ITA Airways launched daily nonstop seasonal service from Rome Fiumicino (FCO) to Valencia Airport (VLC) on June 1, 2026, operating through September 30, 2026. The route was inaugurated simultaneously with new ITA services to Málaga and Marseille, with an official ceremony attended by airport authorities and ITA commercial teams at Valencia Airport on the launch day.
Valencia is Spain's third-largest city and a major leisure destination on the Mediterranean coast, home to its famous paella cuisine, the City of Arts and Sciences, and a string of popular beaches. The daily frequency gives ITA a competitive presence in the Rome–Valencia market over the peak summer travel period, with connections to ITA's wider domestic Italian network available via FCO.
The Lufthansa Group subsidiary ITA Airways serves 17 Italian airports in Summer 2026 and routes passengers from across the Italian peninsula to European leisure hubs via Rome. The carrier's integration into the Lufthansa network and pending Star Alliance membership are expected to increase feeder traffic to its Rome hub, supporting the commercial viability of new seasonal additions such as this.
Chief Commercial Officer Emiliana Limosani said the new routes provide "greater flexibility for leisure travelers and seamless connections via its Rome Fiumicino hub" to multiple domestic Italian points.
