Norwegian announced on June 30, 2026, that it will launch a new nonstop service between Tromsø Airport (TOS) in northern Norway and Helsinki Airport (HEL) from November 18, 2026. The route will operate twice weekly—on Wednesdays and Sundays—throughout the winter season until mid-March 2027, using Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Schedule data from AeroRoutes confirms inbound and outbound timings on both operating days.
Helsinki joins eight existing international destinations served by Norwegian from Tromsø: Berlin, Copenhagen, Geneva, London, Manchester, Milan, Munich, and Paris. The addition reflects continued growth in winter tourism traffic to Tromsø, which draws visitors—particularly from Asia and North America—for Northern Lights experiences and Arctic activities.
Finavia, the Finnish state authority that operates Helsinki Airport, welcomed the announcement, noting that Helsinki serves as a natural transit hub for Asian travellers arriving in Northern Europe, and that the direct link will also benefit Finnish skiers and winter sports enthusiasts heading to Tromsø. According to Finavia's newsroom, the route addresses a gap in direct Finland–northern Norway connectivity that has previously required connections via Oslo or Copenhagen.
Norwegian is part of the Norwegian group, which also owns Widerøe, Scandinavia's largest regional carrier, acquired in 2024. The carrier operates a fleet of Boeing 737-800 and 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
