JetBlue Airways will launch daily nonstop service between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Ernesto Cortissoz International Airport in Barranquilla, Colombia (BAQ), starting October 1, 2026. The route was announced July 9, 2026, as part of JetBlue's largest-ever schedule at FLL JetBlue press release via Yahoo Finance.
The expansion is a direct response to the May 2026 collapse of Spirit Airlines, which had operated heavily out of Fort Lauderdale. JetBlue launched eight new FLL routes on July 9 alone and announced six additional routes for the fall, of which Barranquilla is one. The carrier has also absorbed some former Spirit terminal space at Terminal 4 for international operations Sun Sentinel.
Barranquilla, Colombia's fourth-largest city and a key Caribbean coast commercial hub, joins JetBlue's Colombia network from FLL alongside a new Cali service starting October 15 and its existing Bogota route. A Caracas, Venezuela service is also planned from FLL, subject to regulatory approval AirlineGeeks.
With the full autumn schedule in place, JetBlue projects reaching approximately 150 daily departures from FLL during winter 2026-27, a more than 75% increase year-over-year. JetBlue CEO Joanna Geraghty described the build-up as a "long-term commitment" to South Florida Sun Sentinel.
