Royal Air Maroc Launches First Nonstop Service Between Los Angeles and Casablanca
Royal Air Maroc creates Africa's first direct air link to the U.S. West Coast with a three-weekly Casablanca–Los Angeles nonstop launching June 7, timed ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Royal Air Maroc (AT) will inaugurate three-weekly nonstop service between Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport (CMN) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on June 7, 2026, establishing the first direct air link between Africa and the U.S. Pacific Coast, per an official RAM press release.
Flights operate on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The outbound flight AT251 departs Casablanca at 04:00, arriving in Los Angeles at 08:20 local time; the return AT252 departs Los Angeles at 10:20 and arrives in Casablanca at 05:25 the following morning. The route covers approximately 11 hours of flight time and is operated with Boeing 787 Dreamliners, according to Voyages d'Affaires.
The launch is timed directly ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026, hosted across the United States from June 11 to July 19, with Los Angeles staging matches at SoFi Stadium. RAM expects demand from Moroccan and African football supporters, diaspora travelers, and leisure passengers. Business Traveller noted the service restores LAX's nonstop scheduled connections to all six inhabited continents—a distinction absent since Ethiopian Airlines exited the city in 2019.
For RAM, Los Angeles extends a North American network already including New York (JFK), Washington (IAD), Miami, Montreal, and Toronto. Aviation Week cited RAM CEO Hamid Addou's goal to grow the fleet from roughly 60 aircraft today to 200 by 2037, with 2026 marking a phase of at least 10 new international routes.
