Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is a primary aviation hub for the North Texas region and one of the most significant airports in the United States. Spanning a land area larger than the island of Manhattan, its scale and central location make it a critical link for both domestic and international travel. The airport is situated geographically between the major cities of Dallas and Fort Worth, providing convenient, though often distant, access to both metropolitan areas. Travelers typically reach DFW via a network of major highways, with ride-sharing services, taxis, and public transit options available. The Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Orange Line connects directly to Terminal A, offering rail service to downtown Dallas, while the TEXRail commuter line links Terminal B with downtown Fort Worth.

Opened to the public in 1974, DFW was a landmark collaborative project between two historically rival cities. It was designed to consolidate air traffic and serve as a modern gateway for the entire region. For pre-security transit, a landside Terminal Link shuttle bus is available. Terminal D is the main international terminal, featuring a wide selection of dining, duty-free shopping, and premium lounges, including an integrated Grand Hyatt hotel. The other terminals primarily serve domestic flights but are also well-equipped with restaurants, shops, and passenger services.

For those traveling through DFW, planning is essential due to its size. It is advisable to arrive at least two hours before a domestic flight and three hours prior to an international departure. For connecting passengers, the Skylink is the most efficient way to transfer between gates in different terminals. The airport's Rental Car Center is located in a separate facility, requiring a short ride on a dedicated shuttle bus that departs from the lower level of each terminal.
